Climbing and mountain rescue course

A summer climbing and mountain rescue course, organized by the 63rd Parachute Brigade, is underway for members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Emergency Sector of the Ministry of the Interior.
The aim of this practical specialized course is to equip potential instructors with the skills they need to deliver training courses to others in the future, as well as to teach them to carry out complex mountain rescue and evacuation tasks.

The training program consists of a theoretical part, which teaches the techniques and tactics used for moving across rough terrain, and an intense practical part conducted in real-world conditions, where the trainees move across difficult mountainous terrain, climbing steep cliffs and rescuing and evacuating people. The training uses helicopters of the Air Force and Air Defence to practice the evacuation of the injured from hard-to-reach mountainous terrain.

The training utilizes state-of-the-art climbing, mountaineering and rescue equipment of our Special Forces, which helps trainees improve their skills and gain experience in the use of cutting edge search and rescue technology.
The candidates who complete the training programme successfully will be awarded certificates allowing them to conduct climbing and mountain rescue courses for their unit members. Another benefit of this training is that it improves the ability of combat teams to respond to real-world emergency situations effectively.
