A delegation from the Ministry of Defence, headed by acting Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić, has visited Prague for defence consultations with a delegation from the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, headed by Martin Riegl, Czech Defence Policy Director.
During the meeting, the two delegations exchanged views on the political and security situation in the region and the world. It was established that the cooperation between the Czech Republic and Serbia is improving and that it has a historical basis in the traditionally friendly relations between the two nations. The officials expressed a mutual commitment to improving defence cooperation and harmonizing it with the overall relations between the two countries. They also expressed their willingness to intensify and concretize military to military cooperation, as well as cooperation in the fields of military industry, economy, education, history and tradition.

Assistant Minister Bandić emphasized the importance of re-establishing the military-political dialogue between Serbia and the Czech Republic in order to come to a better understanding and strengthen security. He acquainted the Czech Defence Policy Director with Serbia's foreign policy priorities and the importance of continuing on the path towards EU accession, as well as with Serbia’s efforts to strengthen economic cooperation and dialogue in the Balkan region, as a prerequisite for achieving overall prosperity and building up trust.
According to Director Riegl, the Czech Republic considers Serbia an important partner in the region, so maintaining continuity of high-level military-political dialogue is of great importance. He pointed out that the Czech Republic would continue to support and share experience with Serbia on its path to EU integration.  Riegl said that the advancement of defence cooperation was beneficial for both countries, emphasizing considerable potential for defence cooperation in multiple areas.
