Reconnaissance units undergo summer training
As part of their regular summer training cycle, members of the 1st Army Brigade’s Reconnaissance Company are undergoing intensive training on Mt. Fruška Gora.
The training activity that lasts for several days, includes learning and practising the skills of knife throwing, fighting and negotiating water obstacles using standard vessels, while leaders and soldiers are also being taught to perform reconnaissance using unmanned aircraft, to carry out combined reconnaissance patrols and to find and prepare food in the field.According to the company commander, the training process for reconnaissance units is complex and challenging, and teaches each member of the unit how to survive in the wild, defend themselves and overcome the enemy, negotiate a water obstacle and collect relevant information for superior command.
The commander of a platoon within the reconnaissance company says that one of the main goals of the training is to teach soldiers and leaders skills necessary to survive in the wild on their own.— The main goal of the training is to teach the newly admitted members the basics of eating in the wild, and to teach more experienced members the advanced techniques of finding and preparing food. The training is delivered by instructors with many years of experience and necessary training in the aforementioned field, which consists of a theoretical and practical part, says the platoon commander.
The training also includes the practice of tactical actions for carrying out patrols, lookouts, reconnaissance parties, etc.According to the reconnaissance squad leader, it takes a great deal of knowledge and physical and mental fitness to execute reconnaissance tasks.

It is extremely demanding tactically, it requires both good swimming skills and the knowledge of engineering techniques that we improve through various training activities — emphasizes the squad leader.Reconnaissance units of the Serbian Armed Forces undergo training throughout the year on different types of terrain and in all conditions in which their engagement might be required, which ensures that these units are highly proficient in providing intelligence support to troops during an operation.
