MP units conduct training for military working dogs, handlers
Members of the Army MP Battalion have undergone training to perform specific MP tasks involving military working dogs in a training area near Niš.
The goal of the training was to maintain and improve the dog handlers’ skills in carrying out proper procedures when performing security and search tasks with the assistance of military working dogs. The training included segments such as: search of the area and facilities near a river, search for objects discarded by a criminal suspect, identifying the suspect, detection of explosive ordnance and various psychoactive substances, etc.
The training for members of the Military Police is diverse and quite demanding, and having highly trained MPs is very important for the execution of tasks involving MWDs, because of their ability to detect potential danger and overcome the enemy quickly, without the use of lethal force.
