Pre-deployment preparations of SAF Infantry Company

As part of its preparations for deployment with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which have lasted for several months now, an infantry company of the Serbian Armed Forces designated to participate in this mission is training intensively at Base South and Borovac Training Area.
At this time, the company members are training in specialized labs, firing ranges and a training area, to ensure full readiness for the execution of tasks awaiting them in the area of operations.

The training programme includes tactical, firearms, physical and medical training and covers certain areas of international humanitarian law. The unit members are focused on practicing the tactics and procedures needed for performing their future tasks in Lebanon, such as crowd control, setting up checkpoints, conducting foot and combined patrols, casualty evacuation, and UXO safety procedures.
The company’s training rounds off in late September with a tactical exercise testing the unit’s readiness for deployment with the UNIFIL.

The Serbian Armed Forces have been contributing an infantry company to UNIFIL since 2013. In addition, Serbia’s current contribution to the mission in Lebanon includes a force protection platoon working as part of the Italian contingent, staff officers and a group of specialists responsible for providing support to our contingent.
