Fire was opened last night on members of the Serbian Armed Forces contingent while they were carrying out patrol as part of their regular tasks in support of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
The SAF patrol vehicle was hit by several bullets, but the vehicle's armour protected the soldiers.
None of the patrolmen were injured and all members of the contingent are safe.
The Serbian patrolmen were carrying out their task in accordance with the mission’s procedures and rules of engagement.
When the fire stopped and the rapid response team arrived at the scene, the patrolmen returned to the United Nations base.
