Minister Gašić: Priština's accusations lies and falsehoods

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić has ejected the accusations made by the Minister of Internal Affairs in Priština’s provisional administration, Xhelal Sveçla, regarding the alleged training of terrorists at the Serbian Armed Forces’ training grounds, and said that associating President Aleksandar Vučić with the matter is a gross slander.

– In the territory of the Republic of Serbia, unlike the area controlled by Priština, no terrorists have been or are being trained. In Serbia, terrorists are arrested and prosecuted, whereas in Priština they walk freely, engage in lucrative business or perform public functions - Minister Gašić said.

He says that the training grounds of the Serbian Armed Forces cater exclusively for their own needs, and dismisses the information and alleged evidence given by Sveçla as complete lies and falsehoods.

– The so-called Minister of Internal Affairs of the so-called Kosovo, Mr Xhelal Sveçla, should be informed that, when speaking about the role of officials holding the highest positions in a state in civilized and democratic countries like the Republic of Serbia, he cannot use the criteria and standards that characterize their provisional self-government – said Minister Gašić.

According to him, for many years now, the main task of the Priština quasi-state leadership has been to arm and train paramilitary formations, contrary to the provisions of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.

- The task of those illegally armed groups is to terrorize the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and to carry out a final ethnic cleansing, removing the non-Albanian population from that area. The effects of their criminal activity is known to everyone – the Minister of Defence said.

Although it deserves utter condemnation, such language used by Mr Sveçla, according to Minister Gašić, stems from the total inability of Priština’s administrative apparatus to understand and apply the norms and principles of peaceful and constructive politics.

– On the other hand, the President of the Republic of Serbia deals with issues of the greatest importance for the people and the state in an effort to create a political and economic environment in which all our citizens will live better and safer lives, regardless of their religion and nationality. As commander-in-chief of the Serbian Armed Forces, President Vučić makes only strategic decisions, leaving all other matters, in accordance with the law, to the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff - Minister Gašić said.
Minister Gašić views as frivolous and irrelevant the so-called Kosovo minister’s attempt to actualize the issue of what happened in Banjska through accusations that were rejected months ago.

- The Serbian Armed Forces will continue carrying out their regular tasks on the entire territory of the Republic of Serbia in accordance with the Constitution of our country and existing international legal documents, regardless of whether this will cause dissatisfaction or discomfort in Mr Sveçla and his colleagues - said Minister Bratislav Gašić.
