Minister of Defence Visit 72nd Special Operations Brigade



Today, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Milan Mojsilović visited 72nd Special Operations Brigade in the barracks “Rastko Nemanjić” in Pančevo.

On that occasion, the unit Commander Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan PhD presented the purpose and tasks of the unit, as well as its history to Minister Gašić.

Expressing his great honour and satisfaction with the opportunity to visit members of 72nd Brigade and converse with them, the minister of defence stated that the unit was one of the best in our country.

- The Republic of Serbia and its citizen can be at peace, because 72nd Special Operations Brigade takes care of their security and safety, since its members are ready to defend their country at any moment. That is why manning this Brigade is one of our priorities. Young, courageous, brave, interested in work in elite special units, all those who wish to prove their responsibility and patriotism should apply for the ongoing competition and teste themselves and their capabilities, in order to stand in the line of the chosen ones - Minister Gašić stated.

Taking into consideration that members of 72nd Special Operations Brigade perform extremely responsible and demanding job, the minister of defence stressed that he would work on further equipping of the unit and the creation of even better working conditions in the period to come.

- This is precisely why the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces are going to provide everything that is required, because members of this Brigade are always to execute all assigned tasks, and to protect their people, their fatherland, and be where it is the most needed - Minister Gašić said.

Commander of 72nd Brigade General Talijan presented the unit plaque to Minister Gašić in memory of today’s visit.

During today’s visit, a segment of capabilities of members of 72nd Special Operations Brigade was demonstrated, as well as static display of a part of armament, equipment and motor vehicles, shooting in the firing range, martial arts demonstration, anti-terrorist action in urban and rural environment, and exercises with mine and explosive ordnance.

Minister Gašić also visited premises for religious services, Memorial room of 72nd Special Operations Brigade and signed the Memorial Book.

Today’s visit was also attended by Head of Operations Directorate (J-3) of the General Staff Major General Tiosav Janković, Head of Office of the Minister of Defence Brigadier General Goran Momčilović and Head of Office of Chief of General Staff Colonel Slađan Hristov.
