Minister Gašić holds meetings with ambassadors accredited to Serbia



On the occasion of his appointment to the new role, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić held today a series of meetings with foreign ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Serbia.

Minister Gašić had separate meetings with the ambassadors of the following countries: the Republic of Azerbaijan – H.E. Kamil Khasiyev, the Arab Republic of Egypt – H.E. Bassel Salah, the French Republic – H.E. Pierre Koshar, the Italian Republic – H.E. Luca Gori, the Republic of Kazakhstan - H.E. Madi Atamkulov, the People's Republic of China – H.E. Li Ming and the Republic of Cyprus – H.E. Andreas Fotiou. Meetings were also held today with the ambassadors of the Russian Federation – H.E. Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, the United States of America – H.E. Christopher Hill, as well as with the ambassador of the Slovak Republic, H.E. Michal Pavúk, and the ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, H.E. Juan José Sanz Aparicio Juan Jose Sans Aparicio.
 
Minister Gašić presented the ambassadors with the strategic direction for the defence policy and his priorities during his term of office. He reiterated that Serbia is unequivocally committed to neutrality and dialogue and underscored its adherence to international law and openness towards establishing partnerships with other countries, in order to contribute to peace and regional and global stability.
 
According to Minister Gašić, the process of investing heavily in the Serbian Armed Forces and striving to enhance their overall capabilities is clear and transparent, and aims to increase defence capabilities and deter potential armed threats to the security of our country and people. According to him, none of the countries in the region should view the strong Serbian Armed Forces as a threat, but only as a contributor to regional stability.
 
Serbia is looking to deepen cooperation with all countries on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interests, Minister Gašić said.
