Military Grammar School celebrates 50th anniversary of its first class’s graduation ceremony

Today, the Military Grammar School held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its first class’s graduation. The ceremony was attended by former and current students, teachers, and former principals of the Military Grammar School. Special guests were the granddaughter and grandson of the school's founder, Air Force Lieutenant General Viktor Bubnja, the then Chief of the General Staff of the Yugoslav National Army.
Commandant of the Military Academy, Col. Assoc. Prof. Srđan Blagojević, PhD, greeted the audience on behalf of the host, emphasizing that a lot had changed since their graduation.

– One thing has remained the same - the Military Grammar School has kept carrying out its honourable mission to this day - to provide the Military Academy with a sufficient number of cadets, who are already accustomed to military life, work and discipline, and who are ready and able to continue their study programmes at the Military Academy - said Colonel Blagojević and congratulated the former students on their anniversary. According to him, it is an anniversary celebrated by the entire military educational system, and next year will mark another important anniversary - the 175th anniversary of the Military Academy, which, according to him, is "junior only to Belgrade’s Faculty of Law and Faculty of Philosophy".
Major General Vidosav Kovačević (retd), who belonged to the first class of students at the Military Grammar School, spoke on behalf of the Organizing Committee. He thanked everyone who helped to organize the event.

– Exactly 50 years ago, in this same place, in this magnificent Military Grammar School building, we were presented with high school diplomas, testifying to the great knowledge, excellent education and, above all, good upbringing we had been given. We were lucky to be the first class at the Military Grammar School and to be taught and brought up by, I dare say, the best teachers in Serbia at that time - said General Kovačević, recalling the teachers who had left a deep mark on their lives, the school subjects they had learned, the skills they had acquired and the numerous activities they had pursued. All this, he added, was possible thanks to the first principal, Colonel Dušan Pujić and his associates.
The audience was also addressed by the head of the first class, Lieutenant Colonel Budimir Kocić (retd), physics teacher Vladimir Branković and one of the first class students, Colonel Miljko Erić (retd).
