Night flight training

Military Academy cadets are completing the final phase of their flight training on Gazelle light multi-role helicopters at Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović Military Airfield in Batajnica and in the greater Belgrade area.
The training activity is being conducted in accordance with the training programme for future pilots of the Serbian Armed Forces, and it teaches them to fly this type of aircraft independently, which is a prerequisite for them to be retrained as pilots of Gamma combat helicopters or Mi-17 multi-role transport helicopters, which awaits them in their final year of studies.

During this training phase, cadets are practicing take-off and landing techniques and procedures at night, as well as flying at low altitudes. In order to reach this segment of flight training, they previously had to master independent basic, navigation and instrument flying.
In the upcoming period, they will be trained in formation flying, which will round off their Gazelle helicopter training.

The opportunity to undergo a more intensive flight training, which cadets have been provided with thanks to large investments in the Air Force, enables them to embark on advanced forms of training and retraining for the latest types of combat and multi-role helicopters that the Serbian Armed Forces have in their fleet immediately upon their appointment to entry-level officer duties.
