Statement
The Ministry of Defence demands that the editorial staff of the daily newspaper Danas issue a denail and a public apology for publishing a photo of Lieutenant Colonel Goran Colić on the front page of the daily’s June 12, 2024 issue, showcasing a story featured in the paper that focuses on another person with the same name and surname.
In addition to our service member’s photo, which also appears on the inside pages of this daily, his name is mentioned in the tabloid press fashion in the context of everyday politics, which is contradictory to the image of a professional member of the Serbian Armed Forces.
By publishing the photo of Lt. Col. Colić, the former commander of the Special Purpose Military Police Detachment "Kobre", along with the aforementioned story, substantial personal and professional damage was inflicted on this leader of exceptional moral qualities, but also on all members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
Therefore, we insist that the editorial staff of Danas correct the aforementioned mistake, and in accordance with the Law on Public Information and Media, publish a denial and a public apology to Lt. Col. Goran Colić and all members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces on the front page of their June 13, 2024 issue.
