“549th Motorized Brigade” Documentary Film Premiere

The documentary "549th Motorized Brigade", produced by the Military Film Centre “Zastava Film”, Public Relations Department, MOD, premiered tonight in Captain Miša’s Mansion’s foyer in Belgrade. The film was shown at the opening of the “Classics of Zastava Film” series, organized by the Belgrade Festivals Centre (CEBEF) and “Zastava Film”, in collaboration with the Belgrade University.
Addressing the audience, the director of “Zastava Film”, Colonel Goran Ikonić, emphasized that the aforesaid collaboration testifies to great reputation that “Zastava Film” enjoys in domestic film production circles.

- I would like to thank the Belgrade Festivals Centre and the Belgrade University for recognizing “Zastava Film’s” quality and doing us the honour of having us as their guests over the next few days. We dedicate this evening to all the soldiers who lost their lives in the 1998-1999 wars, as well as to the fallen members of the 549th Motorized Brigade and their legendary commander, General Božidar Delić, who sadly did not live to see this film – said Colonel Ikonić.

Colonel Ikonić presented a certificate of appreciation for successful cooperation to the acting CEBEF director, Damir Handanović, who said that he was extremely pleased that “Zastava Film” and CEBEF celebrate their anniversaries together this year – 75th anniversary of “Zastava Film” and the 10th anniversary of CEBEF, and expressed his hope that they will continue working successfully for many more years to come.
The Public Relations Department and "Zastava Film" have launched the documentary series titled "Heroic Brigades" to honour the sacrifices and heroism of the service members who defended their fatherland in 1999.

Through personal testimonies of survivors of the war and with plenty of archival footage and photos, the film depicts the 549th Motorized Brigade’s journey through 1998-1999 wars, with particular emphasis on the Battle of Paštrik in 1999, when the 549th Motorized Brigade managed to thwart the KLA terrorists’ attempts to launch a ground offensive into Kosovo and Metohija from the Republic of Albania.

The documentary was directed by Marko Kamenica, produced by Colonel Goran Ikonić, written by General Stojan Konjikovac (retd), filmed by Mirko Lukanović and edited by Jovan Banović.
The documentary series “Classics of Zastava Film” includes several topical sections - “Classics of Zastava Film”, The Sea, The First World War, The Second World War, Animated Films and NATO Aggression, and covers several anniversaries commemorated this year – 110 years since the beginning of the First World War, 80 years since the ending of the Second World War and 25th anniversary of NATO aggression.

The event lasts until June 23, 2024, and all films will be shown in Captain Miša’s Mansion’s foyer.
