Minister Gašić visits 63rd Parachute Brigade

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić visited today the 63rd Parachute Brigade at the military airport “Sergeant Pilot Mihajlo Petrović” in Niš. The minister was greeted by Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Lt. Gen. Želimir Glišović.
Minister Gašić was briefed about the purpose and tasks of the 63rd Parachute Brigade by its commander, Brig. Gen. Nenad Zonić.

The minister of defence took a tour of the parachute maintenance facilities and attended the training conducted by members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, who demonstrated segments of martial arts training, preparations for jumping, as well as the standard and special parachute landing.
Minister Gašić established that the members of this special unit are highly trained and ready and that moral among them is very high.

- This year, the 63rd Parachute Brigade marks its 80th anniversary. A long tradition filled with the heroism of its members, victories in battles, lives laid down for the defence of their people, is the source of pride for “burgundy berets”, worn honourably by the brigade members, protecting the reputation of their brigade – said Minister Gašić.
He is particularly pleased that young people have joined the brigade, getting the chance to learn from the best what it means to be a member of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, because unity and the spirit of togetherness is what characterizes this unit.
