Exercise Joint Fire 2024
This week, candidates attending the General Staff Course and the Command and Staff Course at the National Defence School “Field Marshal Radomir Putnik” are conducting an exercise at the Serbian Armed Forces Simulation Training Centre.
To conduct Exercise Joint Fire 2024, commands of an operational group and subordinate units have been formed, within which the trainees, who have been assigned various command and staff duties, are practicing their skills at planning and carrying out operations.
Members of the Simulation Training Centre have provided conditions for the execution of Joint Fire 2024 and taken part in the preparation and execution of a scenario which gives the officers an opportunity to develop critical thinking and gain experience in bringing forward proposals on how units should be employed.
The trainees are focusing on staff procedures during the decision-making process, organizing coordinated action, and exercising command and control in an area of operations, making daily analyses of the quality of staff work done and decisions made in all tiers of command.
The exercise also aims to assess the trainees’ knowledge of the principles of employment on operations and the organization of coordinated action with the Ministry of the Interior units, Red Cross and other civilian actors.
Computer-assisted exercises are an important form of practical training of SAF commands, since they provide staff officers and commands with an opportunity to learn how to plan and execute combat operations using minimum amount of material resources.
