Remembrance Day honouring Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović held



Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović laid a wreath today at the memorial to Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović in Gornje Crniljevo on the occasion of the Remembrance Day honouring the man who died heroically defending the sky over our country during the NATO aggression in 1999.
Wreaths were also laid by an Air Force and Air Defence delegation led by its commander, Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, members of the Pavlović family, a delegation of the 204th Air Force Brigade, representatives of the local self-government and veterans associations.
On the occasion of the Remembrance Day and the 25th anniversary of Col. Milenko Pavlović’s death, a ceremony was held in the National Library in Osečina, which was attended by Assistant Minister for Defence Policy Predrag Bandić and representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, and the programme included the performance of the MOD Artistic Ensemble “Stanislav Binički”.  
Milenko Pavlović was born on October 5, 1959, in Gornje Crniljevo, municipality of Osečina near Valjevo. He was a pilot of the Yugoslav Army and the wartime commander of the 204th Fighter Aviation Regiment. He died in an air battle against the NATO aggressor over Valjevo on May 4, 1999. The airfield “Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović” located in Batajnica was named after him.

He was posthumously awarded the Order of Bravery, Gold Pilot Wings, as well as the Order of St. Bishop Nikolaj, the highest decoration of the Diocese of Valjevo. To keep alive the memory of Milenko Pavlović, one of the main streets in Osečina was named after him in 2019.
