Minister Vučević visits family of Lt. Col. Goran Ostojić killed in Košare
Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević went to Bačko Dobro Polje today to visit the family of the former chief of staff of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, Lt. Col. Goran Ostojić, who died heroically defending his country in Košare in 1998.
On that occasion, the minister visited the birth house of Lt. Col. Ostojić, where renovations are underway, and a part of which will be dedicated to the fallen hero.Minister Vučević had a conversation with Lt. Col. Ostojić's widow Marina and son Bogdan, and thanked them for having kept alive the memory of Goran for 26 years. He emphasized that it was our duty to honour Lt. Col. Goran Ostojić and all other fallen heroes and preserve the memory of them forever, because their deeds must not be forgotten.
The Minister of Defence gave a Gold Plaque of the Ministry of Defence to Marina Ostojić, a parade dagger to his son Bogdan, and planted a cherry tree in the family’s yard.Marina Ostojić thanked the Minister of Defence for today's meeting and expressed her belief that the Ministry of Defence and the Republic of Serbia would always be there for the Ostojić family and the families of all fallen soldiers.
The Ostojić family was also visited by members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade. On behalf of his unit, Captain 1st Class Aleksandar Spasić gave Ostojić’s son, Bogdan, a flag bearing the name and insignia of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, a paratrooper beret and a parachute set.The delegation that visited the Ostojić family also included the President of the Vrbas Municipality, Predrag Rojević, Head of Office of the Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Goran Momčilović, and members of the Association of the 63rd Parachute Brigade Veterans.
Lieutenant Colonel Goran Ostojić was born on January 20, 1962 in Bačko Dobro Polje. He died on July 28, 1998 in the Junik Mountains while commanding the units of the 63rd Parachute Brigade who were preventing terrorist troops from arming themselves illegally and entering the territory of Kosovo and Metohija from Albania.
