Air Defence Troops in Joint Exercise Whirlwind 2024
The Air Defence artillery-missile units participating in Joint Tactical Exercise Whirlwind 2024 are conducting intensive training activities and drills to prepare for carrying out missions in combat operations of the Serbian Armed Forces.
At this stage, the participating forces’ missile battalions are carrying out tactical actions on the march and taking up reserve fire positions in order to establish effective formations for defending the territory and own forces against air attacks, while some of the other units are training at their parent bases.The emphasis is on applying the principles governing the employment of units and on preparing combat crews for engaging aerial targets. Almost all anti-aircraft systems from the SAF’s arsenal are being used for the training, conducted jointly with the ASEWG units and fighter aviation.
The Air Defence troops form a significant part of the combat component, and are extremely important for the success of military operations in which remotely piloted aircraft and other air attack means are extensively used. Therefore, it is imperative that they are highly trained and integrated into a single system.
