Members of karate club "Vazduhoplovac" visit Military Academy

Today, members of the karate club “Vazduhoplovac” (airman) visited the Military Academy with their instructors and parents.
The Commandant of the Military Academy, Assoc. Prof. Col. Srđan Blagojević, welcomed them and wished them a good time with the cadets and professors.

- We are extremely happy that the "airmen have landed" at the Military Academy grounds today. Your club and the Military Academy are linked by fostering and preserving virtues, tradition, fighting spirit, education and culture. During the tour, you will be able to feel the spirit of the Military Academy and compare it with the atmosphere in your club. This is just the beginning of our cooperation and we hope that it will be successful in the future - said Col. Srđan Blagojević.
At the beginning of the visit, having learned that besides sports, members of the club pay special attention to art, members of the Military Academy’s music club enchanted their guests with their musical performance. Karateka Lola Golubović also surprised everyone by singing the song "Rasti, Rasti moj zeleni bore" bringing smiles to the faces of members of the Military Academy and leaving a powerful impression on them.

The visit continued with a tour of the Sports Centre and getting acquainted with a number of clubs available for cadets. Together with the cadets, the club members attended a martial arts class. Demonstrating excellent skills, they proved that their club has deservedly earned more than 5000 medals since its foundation.

The club members had the opportunity to show their skills in the flight simulator, flying planes and helicopters in virtual reality.

During the tour, they learned about the history of the Military Academy spanning 174 years and the changes it went through in various periods of its history.

In the end, they had the famous army beans for lunch, replenishing the energy they had expended during their eventful visit.
In 1973, the Air Force and Air Defence Command established a karate club for officers and their children as part of the "Vazduhoplovac" Sports Association, which became an independent club a few years later. For more than 44 years, the Air Force has fostered the spirit of friendship, togetherness and belonging to a team and has produced many competitors and national team members.
