Training with self-propelled artillery systems
Artillery battalions in Army brigades armed with 122 mm “Gvozdika” self-propelled howitzers are undergoing intensive training in the combat use of this artillery system when providing fire support to Army evolution units.
During this training phase, howitzer crews are chiefly practicing tactical actions on the march, gun emplacement, camouflage, timely employment of an artillery unit in combat, as well as the organization of artillery fire, with the aim of refreshing their knowledge and preparing for firing practices, fire for record and live-fire tactical exercises awaiting them in the forthcoming period.
Besides the basic version of “Gvozdika”, the trainees also use the modernized version during the training process. After a modern fire control system has been installed in the latter, it has greater firepower, speed, accuracy of fire and ability to hit the target with multiple missiles simultaneously.
This type of training improves the degree of skill of each individual, crewmembers’ teamwork and speed of response, and consequently the ability of artillery units to fulfil assigned tasks on operations carried out by the Serbian Armed Forces.
