The Statehood Day of Serbia is a state holiday which marks two significant historical dates. On that day, in 1804, Serbian rebels led by Karađorđe, at an assembly in Orašac, decided to start the First Serbian Uprising. On the same date in 1835, the first Constitution of Serbia was passed in Kragujevac, also known as Candlemas Constitution.
