Minister Vučević meets with Chairman of European Union Military Committee General Brieger
Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met with the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Robert Brieger, who is paying a visit to the Republic of Serbia.
Minister Vučević said that, along with the preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty and regional cooperation, one of Serbia’s foreign policy goals was EU membership. He also pointed out the significant contribution of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces to the EU Common Security and Defense Policy.
The Republic of Serbia, Minister Vučević said, has been actively contributing to EU missions and operations since 2012, and we are currently participating in two military missions and one EU operation. We are planning, he said, to increase the participation of the Serbian Armed Forces in military operations in 2024, by joining the European Union Military Training Mission in Mozambique.
General Brieger informed Minister Vučević about the current situation in EU missions and operations amid shifts in geopolitical situation. He expressed his belief that by participating in CSDP, common values were shared, and added that the Republic of Serbia had proven to be the European Union’s reliable partner.
The two parties came to a mutual conclusion that meetings like this, which help improve mutual understanding and cooperation, should be maintained.
