New Year’s Message from Minister of Defence

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević sent a New Year’s message to all members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, which says:

“Happy New Year to all members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

We are saying goodbye to 2023 feeling proud and content. In the past year, our armed forces have made another step forward, climbed another stair and ended the year stronger than they were in previous years. Serbia is getting stronger and that is the most important thing!

We have managed to equip ourselves with the most technologically advanced assets, but also to improve the working and living conditions for our service members. We have increased salaries, and the growth will continue in 2024. We have held several capabilities displays, "GRANITE 2023" being the most important one in terms of the number of weapons and military equipment displayed. After more than 40 years, we have procured new transport aircraft, but also new helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and drones.

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have once again shown how important they are to our country and people. Together with all the citizens of the Republic of Serbia, we have tackled problems and challenges and together we are winning! We remain dedicated and faithful to the freedom, peace and prosperity of our homeland.

The time ahead, the coming year and the ones after it, will bring new challenges and put us to new tests. Inspired by the memory of our ancestors and their deeds, never forgetting the lessons and experiences they left us, we will provide answers to new questions and continue on the path of success.

Thank you for your effort and sacrifice, they have contributed to the overall success. There are no small tasks or small results. Every task done well is a contribution to the further strengthening of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. I would like to thank every soldier, non-commissioned officer, officer and civilian. Let's be one family gathered around the ideal of a free and independent Serbia, our only homeland.

Having faith in new successes, I wish you and your families good health and lots of happiness in the New Year and the holidays ahead”.
