New issue of ”ODBRANA"

The New Year's issue of "Odbrana" magazine includes a special article containing the annual report, written in a journalistic manner, on the results achieved by the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in 2023.

We have dedicated the Standing Point section to voluntary military service. We have talked to the young soldiers, who took a break from their civilian lives at the beginning of December at the Training Command’s Second Training Centre in Valjevo, about their first days in the military.
The System section dominates this issue in terms of the topics it covers. We have taken a tour of the Peacekeeping Operations Training Centre and the military complex Borovac. We have also visited the members of the 126th ASEWG Brigade, who spoke proudly about their unit being equipped with state-of-the-art long-range and medium-range Thales radars. We have also paid a visit to the BRDM-2MS Armoured-Reconnaissance Battalion stationed in Niš and documented driver training in adverse weather conditions and on difficult terrain. The focus was on the drivers’ skills and knowledge.

This issue contains two more texts related to the city on the Nišava River – an article about the Military Orchestra Niš and its musicians who, with their music and uniform, protect the reputation of the military music in southern Serbia and all around the world, and an article about the Military Hospital Niš, which is celebrating its 146th anniversary.

The Jubilee section contains two articles dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Central Military Club’s Gallery and the Military Technical Gazette, a professional journal of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

In the History section, you can read about the defence of Serbia from the rivers in 1914 and 1915, about the brave Serbian boatmen, the Boat Company - the first river unit of the Serbian Army.

The Arsenal section also deals with history and presents the M24 ČK assault rifle, which was the weapon used by the special forces of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

We have also covered the international expert panel on food and water safety and veterinary support.

We wish our readers a happy New Year and a merry Christmas.
