New Year’s gift giving event at military airfield in Batajnica
A traditional New Year’s gift giving event for students of developmental disabilities schools was held today at the military airfield “Colonel Pilot Milenko Pavlović” in Batajnica.
The event, organized for the 10th consecutive year by the members of the 204th Air Brigade and members of the "Osmeh na dar" (Smile as a Gift) charity, was held in a festive atmosphere and New Year’s packages were given to the students of the aforementioned schools to brighten their holiday season.
As part of the ceremony, a plane from the 138th Transport Aviation Squadron landed at the Batajnica airfield apron flying in Santa Claus and Fairy Godmother, who then distributed packages to the students of the "Anton Skala" Primary and Secondary School from Stara Pazova and the Vocational School for Children with Developmental Disabilities from Belgrade. The pupils had the opportunity to enter the plane and spend some time with the crew.
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces are actively involved in numerous humanitarian programmes, both at home and in peacekeeping operations abroad. In this way they show that they foster the basic values of the military profession and are always ready to devote attention and provide assistance to the people in need.
