Statement
The Ministry of Defence has been forced to warn the public several times about the political activity of the Military Union, which is confirmed by their latest press release. Calling on the professional members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and members of their families to vote at the upcoming parliamentary elections for candidates who appeal to the taste of the Military Union, this organization has taken an active part in the election campaign.
Every member of the defence system has the legal right to vote according to his or her free will and conscience for the political party or individual that he or she thinks will most consistently represent his or her interests.
We dismiss the way in which the Military Union’s press releases manipulate, for the umpteenth time, data on the inflow and outflow of personnel of the defence system. We would like to stress that the number of staff who have joined the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces is significantly higher than the number of those who have left for any reason.
The Ministry of Defence will not allow anyone, including the representatives of the Military Union, to conduct political propaganda within the framework of the defence system under the guise of an alleged fight for employees’ rights. Therefore, we call on the representatives of the Military Union to stick to the legal framework for trade union activity and stop the political abuse of this organization.
