Serbian force protection platoon undergoes training
Intensive training for the Serbian Armed Forces force protection platoon is underway at Base South and at the Borovac training ground near Bujanovac. The platoon members are preparing for deployment with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
This is the final part of the second phase of preparations that unit members have been undergoing for several months now, prior to being deployed to the area of operations and in order to fully prepare for the execution of tasks as part of the UN peacekeeping forces.
Following individual tactical and weapons training conducted in the first training phase, the unit members are now doing field training, practicing tactics and procedures for the execution of tasks that await them in Lebanon, with an emphasis on the procedures followed when patrolling and securing the base.
The force protection platoon training ends next week with a tactical exercise, where the degree of training and operability of this unit drawn from the Training Command will be tested.
The Serbian Armed Forces have been contributing a force protection platoon to UNIFIL since 2014. In the mission, the platoon works as part of the Italian contingent and is responsible for securing the base where the UN forces are stationed. In addition to this platoon, the Serbian Armed Forces also contribute an infantry company, staff officers and a team of specialists responsible for providing support to our contingent on this mission.
