New Issue of “Odbrana”

In December issue of the magazine “Odbrana”, we made a journalist style “annual overview” of the results achieved by Air Force and Air Defence, and on the occasion of the Day of that arm of our armed forces we bring you several interesting texts. In them, members of Air Force and Air Defence, gazing into the future, remind us of the results achieved over last several years underlying that the procurement of contemporary and state-of-the-art aircraft and more efficient materiel and combat systems motivate them to make effort even harder, and be even more persistent and dedicated.
In the context of the mentioned equipment of the Serbian Armed Forces, we dedicated particular attention to CASA C-295 transport aeroplane which has been recently fielded, which has marked the revitalisation of the military transport aviation.

Presenting 204th Air Brigade, we have placed focus on those segments of the units that are less visible in the media behind the charisma of fighter aviation and helicopter overflights - the logistics, maintenance and support.

In the eve of the Day of Music Service of the Serbian Armed Forces, we have presented the Representative Orchestra of the Guard, which cherishes a tradition that has been lasting for almost 200 years, and whose roots date back in 1831, when “Serbian Principality Band” was established.

We also looked back on the decade of the Chaplaincy Service in the Serbian Armed Forces, at the completion of which we will welcome 20 new military priests and as much their assistants, with 41 Orthodox religious facilities, with three Islamic and two Roman-Catholic ones.

Our associate visited a great arms exhibition in Bangkok, where our defence industry presented its capacities, and he brings a special feature from that event.

The pages of “Odbrana” in the segment titled “Culture” you may read texts about the importance of the preservation of Cyrillic script in the digital era, and about autumn concert season of the Artistic Ensemble “Stanislav Binički” - about historical operas and the return to festivals.

For 109 years now, each December, the battle of Kolubara emerges from our collective memory, reminding us of its significance and the manner in which it defined our modern history. Instead of usual historical articles and retrospectives of that battle and glorious counter offensive of Field Marshal Mišić, we have presented to our readers an award winning oration of a Military Academy cadet, Sergeant Jovana Kokoresković titled “Let us be the descendants worthy of our forefathers”.

We have noted the triumphs of Sergeant Đuro Borbelj and Elzan Bibić, members of the Sports Unit of the Military Academy of the Ministry of Defence at 4th Belgrade Semi Marathon.

We have enriched the December issue with a 16 page Special feature in which we presented a unique institution of the system of defence - the Technical Test Centre, which is going to mark 90 years anniversary on 14th December.
