Serbian Armed Forces Continue Helping Citizens
Today as well, members of the Serbian Armed Forces together with responsible services tirelessly work to normalise the life in municipalities where heavy snow fall has caused road blocks and problems with electricity supply.
For the tasks, the Serbian Armed Forces have engaged the Army engineering units, Air Force and Air Defence helicopters, and paratroopers from 63rd Parachute Brigade.
In the municipality of Bujanovac, a working group from the Fourth Army Brigade is working on clearing local roads, while the engineers of the Third Brigade are carrying out the same tasks in the area of the municipality of Babušnica.
To create conditions for a steady electricity transmission in the municipality of Sjenica, an engineering working group from the Second Army Brigade is removing tree trunks and bushes along the electrical grid leading from the village of Gonja to Jadovnik.
To provide assistance, Air Force and Air Defence helicopters have been engaged, which delivered the first contingent of fodder for the cattle on the Suva Mountain today, which is at this moment only possible to do by air because of high snowdrifts. At three locations on this mountain, 65 bales of hay were dropped each weighing 25 kilograms.
Upon the order of the president of the Republic of Serbia and supreme commander, the Serbian Armed Forces have timely put in the state of readiness a portion of their forces and assets for the removal of the effects of snowfall, and they were among the first who came to the aid of the affected population. The units of the Serbian Armed Forces are in contact with responsible services and they remain ready for further engagement in all parts of the country.
