Message from President of Republic and Supreme Commander of Serbian Armed Forces to mark Army Day
The President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, sent a message today to mark November 16 – the Army Day, which reads as follows:
"I would like to convey my congratulations to all members of the Army on the occasion of November 16 – the Army Day.
Following in the footsteps of the heroes who fought with unshakable faith and hope for the freedom of their fatherland in the Battle of Kolubara on that November 16, 1914, you have successfully kept alive the memory of them for a hundred and nine years, continuing the traditions of the Army.
Owing to excellent organization, careful selection of personnel and demanding training, the Army, which is the most numerous and best-equipped service of the Serbian Armed Forces, manages to fulfil all its tasks and missions, successfully overcoming all the challenges along the way.
Your unit members have proven that despite the numerous pressures and provocations they have been exposed to over the past period, especially when securing the administrative boundary line with Kosovo and Metohija and monitoring the Ground Safety Zone, nothing can break their iron will and great professionalism in protecting the national territory and the citizens of the Republic of Serbia, no matter where they are.
As you continue your reform as the key component of the Serbian Armed Forces in the contemporary military organization, in line with the adopted, tested and confirmed international standards and criteria, you will have the support of the state, just as before.
I wish you a happy holiday, convinced that, through your engagement, you will continue to contribute to the development of your service, the security of every citizen and the stability of the Republic of Serbia as a whole”.
