Display of new SAF assets at “Nikinci” range
A display of weapons and military equipment, whose admittance to the Serbian Armed Forces units is underway, as well as the training of military personnel in handling the new equipment, were carried out today at the Weapons and Military Equipment Test Centre “Nikinci". As part of today's activities, which were attended by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, some assets, which are in the final phase of introduction into the armament of the Serbian Armed Forces, were also tested.
These new assets that special forces, infantry, armoured, artillery, and air force and air defence units will be equipped with, namely a new series of 4x4 Miloš armoured combat vehicles, BOV OT armoured personnel carriers, modernized BVP M-80AB1 infantry fighting vehicles, PASARS anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery-missile systems, logistics vehicles for the 155 mm NORA self-propelled howitzer, M20 6.5/7.62 mm modular automatic machine guns, 40/6 revolver-type grenade launchers, EZ-9 pistols, various types of newly produced infantry and artillery ammunition and other equipment.
The activities carried out at the "Nikinci" range were attended by Assistant Minister of Defence for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, Ph.D., Head of the Operations Directorate (J-3, General Staff), Major General Tiosav Janković, Head of the Logistics Directorate (J-4), Major General Srđan Petković, Head of the Development and Equipment Directorate(J-5), Brigadier General Milan Popović, Head of the Defence Technologies Department of the Material Resources Sector, Brigadier General Slavko Rakić, and Deputy Head of the Procurement and Sales Department, Colonel Dragan Panić.
The Ministry of Defence and companies that are part of the domestic defence industry have intensified the development, production and closing contracts for the delivery of modern weapons and military equipment in order to implement the plans aimed at equipping the Serbian Armed Forces in accordance with the 2022 directive from President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić.
The introduction of new complex combat systems, small arms, optronic devices and other equipment developed by the Military Technical Institute and defence industry factories will considerably improve the combat readiness of the Serbian Armed Forces.
A contract for the delivery of the displayed combat systems was concluded based on the demand expressed by the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff and their characteristics have been adjusted to the defence needs of our country. When selecting each new combat system, it is made sure that the armed forces have personnel who are skilled enough to adequately use and maintain it.
