Minister Vučević lays wreath at Monument to Unknown Hero to mark Armistice Day
Acting on behalf of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević laid a wreath today at the Monument to Unknown Hero on Mount Avala to mark the World War I Armistice Day.
Minister Vučević laid the wreath accompanied by Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, and Head of the Operations Directorate (J-3, General Staff), Major General Tiosav Janković.
After the wreath was laid to the accompaniment of the national anthem of the Republic of Serbia and with the Serbian Armed Forces Honour Guard standing at attention, the Minister of Defence wrote the following message in the Monument’s guest book:
“Freedom, peace and love for the fatherland, family and neighbour were bequeathed to us by all known and unknown heroes who fell in the Serbian liberation wars. They laid down their lives as a pledge. This obliges us as people, as their sons and daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to bow our heads in eternal memory of these immortal heroes.
Their sacrifice should be our pledge and our guide as we defend and build our homeland with all our heart and soul, as we safeguard it for future generations, for all our children, because the purpose our struggle is to make sure that our homeland, Serbia, is safe, eternal and happy!"
