Training in Army mechanized battalions

Members of mechanized units are currently undergoing intensive training in carrying out combat missions during Army operations. The training is being conducted at the units’ peacetime stations and training areas.
This training activity, which opens the winter training cycle for professional members, aims to prepare them for the execution of assigned missions and tasks, and its general goal is to further improve the unit members’ individual skills and the units’ combat readiness.

In accordance with the training program, tactical actions and procedures on the move and during defensive and offensive operations are now being practiced, using the primary combat asset of mechanized units — the M-80A infantry fighting vehicle. The two main aspects are joint tactical drills conducted by IFV crews and infantry squads on board and training in performing basic maintenance of all subsystems and weapons.
The next step is the execution of firing practices at SAF’s specialized ranges, followed by tactical exercises and live fire drills in winter conditions, where members of mechanized battalions will demonstrate their tactical and firearms skills.

Mechanized battalions, which, together with armoured units, are the primary manoeuvring force on SAF operations, conduct their training in all conditions throughout the year. As a result, each individual is able to meet the required level of skill and team efficiency and speed of response are achieved, which is of critical importance for swiftly bringing infantry into battle and providing proper fire support and protection to troops on operations.
