Regional meeting of mechanisms for gender equality held
Members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have participated in the 16th Regional Meeting of Mechanisms for Gender Equality in the Ministries of Defence and Armed Forces of the Western Balkans. The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces delegation was led by Colonel Mirjana Milenković, PhD, Head of the Peacekeeping Operations Centre, Operations Directorate of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff.
Members of the ministries of defence and armed forces of the Republic of North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro – countries participating in the regional project called “Strengthening of Regional Cooperation on Gender Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reform in the Western Balkans" also attended the meeting in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by the UNDP SEESAC Office.
The delegations exchanged experiences on the progress made in this field since their previous meeting, which was held in Belgrade last December. An online course on gender equality developed by gender instructors from the ministries of defence and armed forces of the Western Balkan countries was presented, as well as the conclusions derived from the evaluation of the said project.
The meeting also discussed the ways to achieve sustainable results and strategies for facilitating progress in the field of gender equality.
