Contracts signed for procurement and modernization of complex combat platforms worth approximately RSD 13.5 billion
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević today attended a signing ceremony in which contracts were signed between the Ministry of Defence and PE Yugoimport-SDPR for the procurement and modernization of 92 complex combat platforms for the Serbian Armed Forces, worth approximately RSD 13.5 billion.
Brigadier General Slavko Rakić, PhD, Head of the Defence Technologies Department, Material Resources Sector, Ministry of Defence, signed two contracts with Tijana Konić and Andrijana Subotić from PE Yugoimport-SDPR.
Colonel Dragan Panić from the Procurement and Sales Department, Material Resources Sector, signed three contracts with Andrijana Subotić from PE Yugoimport-SDPR.
Besides the main contractor, more than 20 subcontractors will be involved in the production, some of which from the Serbian Defence Industry, as well as subcontractors who have the capabilities needed to respond to modern requirements in terms of quality and delivery deadlines.
The domestic defence industry is growing and developing and at the same time is a strong and reliable partner of the Serbian Armed Forces and the national economy as a whole. The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces seek to continue equipping themselves with modern weapons and military equipment, which are the fruits of domestic development, produced in the facilities of domestic manufacturers.
Over the past few years, with considerable support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, conditions have been created for the production of modern weapons and military equipment for the Serbian Armed Forces, business has picked up and the country’s status as a regional leader in weapons and military equipment production has been confirmed.
The signing ceremony was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nemanja Starović, Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, PhD, heads of the cabinets of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Žarko Mićin and Brigadier General Goran Momčilović, representatives of the Ministry of Defence, Serbian Armed Forces, Serbian Defence Industry Group and subcontractors.
During his tour of the arms and military equipment fair today, the Minister of Defence visited the exhibition stands of the organizational units of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Defence Industry companies.
Information about the companies’ capabilities and their production programmes were presented to Minister Vučević. During the tour, the minister took the opportunity to talk to the representatives of the companies and to hear their impressions about the visitors’ and participants’ interest in the weapons and military equipment displayed.
While visiting their exhibition stands, Minister Vučević was informed by the representatives of these companies about their plans for the next period. He learned that our defence technologies are making a steady progress and that good results have been achieved since the previous fair held two years ago.
For more than two decades, the International Arms and Military Equipment Fair PARTNER has exhibited a continuous upward trend in the number of exhibitors, assets displayed, business associates and visitors, and the publicity the fair receives in local and foreign media.
