Meeting of Working Group responsible for drafting National Action Plan
The first meeting of the cross-departmental Working Group designed to draft the National Action Plan for the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 - Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia (2023-2026) was held today at the Palace of Serbia.
The meeting was chaired by Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović, who emphasized the importance and significance of drafting the National Action Plan, especially considering the position of women in the context of modern security and other challenges.
He said that, besides representatives of the Ministry of Defence and numerous members of state administration bodies, representatives of civil society organizations, the institution of the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, representatives of academia and others are also involved in the activities of the Working Group, considering that there is a desire and need to reach a broad public consensus on this issue.
Acting Assistant Minister Radović said that the Ministry of Defence is in charge of drafting this document and will provide full support for the drafting and implementation of the third National Action Plan.
The guidelines for the preparation of the new National Action Plan, which were adopted by the Political Committee of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in July this year, were presented at the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the organization for gender equality and the empowerment of women - UN WOMEN, as well as representatives of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, who offered their assistance in the preparation of this document, in the organization of the future meetings of the Working Group, and the organization of public consultations on this document.
