Second half of SAF contingent returns from Slovenia



State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić and Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Želimir Glišović, welcomed tonight at the “Topčider“ barracks the second half of the Serbian Armed Forces contingent who were engaged in a relief mission to prevent and mitigate the impacts of flooding in the Republic of Slovenia.
On behalf of the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, State Secretary Jelić greeted the members of the Serbian Armed Forces and said that their engagement was praised as highly professional, and that they had shown, in complex conditions, their readiness and competence in carrying out their relief mission to provide assistance to the flood-stricken residents.
The second half of the contingent comprising 34 members of the Serbian Armed Forces was tasked with disinfecting facilities and soil, supplying water and fuel and performing engineer works in affected areas.
Twenty-two members of the Serbian Armed Forces on H-145M and Mi-17 helicopters took part in the relief mission in Slovenia. They were responsible for the air transport of rescue teams, civilians, water, fuel and other cargo in the most severely affected mountainous areas of Carinthia and Styria in the north-east of Slovenia.
