Aviation Day marked
The Air Force and Air Defence Command and aviation units have marked the Aviation Day – August 2, in commemoration of the day in 1893 when an order was issued to form air sections in the divisions of the Serbian Army.
Military ceremonies to mark the occasion were also held at the Aviation Club in Zemun and military airports “Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović” in Batajnica and “Morava” in Lađevci.
A presentation of past year’s work results was given to the audience consisting of members of the Air Force and Air Defence, awards were presented to the most deserving individuals, as well as flight instructor titles and gold pilot badges. As part of the ceremony, wreaths were laid at the memorial to the fallen Air Force members.
The ceremonies at the military airports were attended by representatives of SAF units, former commanders, families of the fallen soldiers and officers, representatives of local self-government bodies, Serbian Orthodox Church, and other distinguished guests.
