New issue of ODBRANA
The August issue of Odbrana magazine contains a series of interesting articles. This issue opens with an interview with Brigadier General Radivoje Anđelković, Head of the Military Health Department, on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Medical Service Day, which is celebrated on July 30 to commemorate the appointment of Dr. Emmerich Lindenmayer as staff doctor at the Main Military Staff on July 30, 1839.
We recommend the texts in the SYSTEM section, one of which sums up the achievements of the River Flotilla as its anniversary approaches. The section also contains a report on "becoming a hardened soldier" at the Third Training Centre in Leskovac. A portrayal of the Air Force and Air Defence Training Centre is followed by a comprehensive and well-illustrated account of the training conducted in the Serbian Armed Forces during the month of July and texts about the final exercises carried out by the cadets of the Military Academy and students of the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy. The same thematic section also contains an interesting story about the training received by pilots and aircraft technicians of the 119th Mixed Helicopter Squadron.
The ARSENAL section presents the Turkish armoured vehicle Akrep, and we also recommend our INTERVIEW with Dr. Marko Miletić regarding Yugoslavia's defence policy in the period 1945-1959.
In the August issue, you will learn more about the exhibition "Papers of a Time", which is being prepared for the upcoming Military Museum Day, August 22, whereas the CULTURE section contains a suitable text to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the birth of Desanka Maksimović.
