Regular Rotation of Serbian Armed Forces Contingent in Mission in Lebanon
The contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces, which had been engaged in United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon since the end of last year, returned to the Republic of Serbia following successful completion of their engagement in that mission.
The contingent consisted of an infantry unit from the Fourth Army Brigade, staff officers and a group of specialist tasked to provide support. They were executing their tasks in the sector “East” of the peacekeeping mission in Lebanon, and superior officers and mission command evaluated their engagement as highly professional and responsible.
Today, a new contingent of the Serbian Armed Forces has been deployed to the area of operation, and in nest six months, just like our previous contingents, they will perform responsible tasks on the maintenance of peace in this Middle East country.
The Serbian Armed Forces started their participation in United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon in 2010 by sending five staff officers. Since then the number of Serbian Armed Forces members in this mission has been significantly increased. Currently, in the area of operation, apart from the contingent in the sector “East”, the Serbian Armed Forces are deploying a force protection platoon which makes part of the Italian contingent located in sector “West”.
