Wreaths Laid at Monument to Fallen Members of 549th Motorised Brigade
Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović attended the ceremony of paying homage to killed members of 549th Motorised Brigade, held in the barracks “Vojvoda Petar Bojović” in Leskovac.
Heading the delegation of the Ministry of Defence, Assistant Ministe Radović has laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to members of armed forces and police who died in 1998 and 1998 in battles against Albanian terrorist and NATO forces, in the area of responsibility of 549th Motorised Brigade.
In honour of the fallen warriors, wreaths were also laid by delegations of Serbian Government, Serbian Armed Forces led by Commander of the Third Training Centre Colonel Zoran Cvetković, Ministry of the Interior, Military Academy and representatives of Toplica region, and of Prokuplje, Niš, Leskovac and Sombor, the municipalities of Bojnik and Lebane, and by families of the killed warriors and numerous veteran associations.
The monument consists of a monumental pedestal with names of all members of armed forces and police who died in combat in 1998 and 1999 in the area of responsibility of 549th Mechanised Brigade, which encompassed the territories of municipalities Prizren, Orahovac, Suva Reka, Đakovica and Gora. Placed on the pedestal, there is a tank T-55 in which Commander of 3rd Company of Armoured Battalion of 549th Motorised Brigade Captain Željko Martinović died fighting against Albanian terrorists on 11th August 1998.
