Training for Artillery Branch Soldiers

Soldiers of “March 2023” intake, who are serving the second part of their military service in the Mixed Artillery Brigade, are undergoing intensive training for the execution of collective tasks.

They have been assigned to gun-howitzer battalion, and they are undergoing the training for the combat use of 152mm M-84 “Nora” towed gun-howitzers, which is used to provide fire support to forces in operations.

In this unit, they cover the content of tactical and firing training, and advance the knowledge on the assets and equipment used in artillery branch. The focus of this phase is placed on tactics and performance of practical actions, starting from reconnaissance and firing position emplacement, through the preparation and calculation of elements for the action, to the work of crews once the firing command has been given.

In the continuation of the training, the young artillery men will be faced with more complex content of the training in the field, as well as programmed firing, during which they will have a chance to demonstrate their competence to perform duties as members of gun-howitzer crews, and to familiarise themselves first-hand with the firing capabilities of this combat asset.

The soldiers have been assigned to the Mixed Artillery Brigade on the basis of the specialities for which they were recruited, after they have successfully completed individual training in Training Command Centres. Many of them will start their employment in this very unit as professional soldiers of the Serbian Armed Forces, for which they can apply already.
