ASW Service and 126th ASEWG Brigade celebrate their anniversaries
A military ceremony was held at the Banjica Barracks in Belgrade today to mark the ASW Service Day and the 126th ASEWG Brigade Day.
On this occasion, past year’s results were summarized, awards were presented to the most successful individuals and wreaths were laid at the memorial located in the barracks, dedicated to the victims of the 1999 NATO aggression.
It was emphasized that the 126th ASEWG Brigade had successfully performed all the tasks entrusted to it and significantly improved its airspace control capability, greatly contributing to the development of overall capabilities of the Air Force and Air Defence.
Today's ceremony was attended by Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, representatives of SAF units, Serbian Orthodox Church, local self-government and institutions the Brigade cooperates with.
The ASW Service Day and the 126th ASEWG Brigade Day are marked in memory of June 18 1915 when the Serbian Supreme Command issued an order to establish permanent observation signal stations to indicate the flight direction of enemy aircraft, laying the foundations for the modern ASW Service.
