Contract signed, project to increase energy efficiency at MMA can start
The contract allowing the commencement of the project to increase energy efficiency at the Military Medical Academy was signed today at the said institution.
The contract was signed by Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović, and the project implementation consultant Stefano Ferrari, the managing director of the German management4health GmbH company. It is one of the most important projects to increase energy efficiency in public buildings across Serbia.
State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Mile Jelić and Head of the Military Health Department, Brigadier General Radivoje Anđelković, were in attendance during the signing of the contract.
This project, Minister Đedović said, will not only save energy and reduce the greenhouse gases emission, but will also improve the quality of services provided to patients. According to her, the studies done for this project show that there is considerable room for improvement in the use of energy in public buildings, especially in healthcare.
Head of the MMA, Colonel Miroslav Vukosavljević, said he was delighted with the commencement of the project that would greatly improve the workplace environment for the staff and the treatment of patients, save all types of energy and help preserve the environment.
- At the time it was designed and built, the MMA building was one of the first "smart buildings" in the SFRY, judged by the then standards in technology, construction and ecology. Bearing in mind the complex technology systems used at the MMA, the energy efficiency project is by all means one of the largest projects in the country, and for us, the most important one. I would like to thank everyone for recognizing the importance of increasing energy efficiency at the MMA for the benefit of both us who use it, and all the citizens of Serbia - said Colonel Vukosavljević.
Before signing the contract, the delegations took a tour of the premises and systems that will undergo energy rehabilitation as part of this project.
The project entitled “Energy efficiency in public buildings and renewable energy sources in the district heating sector - energy rehabilitation of the Military Medical Academy" consists of three phases, and it is envisaged that all phases will be completed over the next six years.
