Meeting between Minister Vučević, Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević concluded his official visit to the Republic of Cyprus after meeting with the Archbishop of New Justinian and All Cyprus Georgios.
At the meeting, they spoke about the cooperation between the two churches throughout history, and Minister Vučević expressed special gratitude for the assistance provided to Serbia by the Orthodox Church of Cyprus and Archbishop Georgios himself during the NATO aggression in 1999.  They agreed that brotherly relations between the two nations provided a solid basis for further improvement in relations between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church of Cyprus.  

Archbishop Georgios asked Minister Vučević to convey his brotherly regards to His Holiness Serbian Patriarch kyr Porfirije.
Archbishop Georgios is the head of Cyprus’ Orthodox Church - New Justinian and All Cyprus, whose autocephalous status was recognized by the 8th canon of the Third Ecumenical Council held in Ephesus in 431 AD.
