Minister Vučević discusses situation in Kosovo and Metohija with ministers of defence of Hungary and Italy
Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Defence of Hungary, Kristof Salaj-Bobrovnicki. Today, in another telephone conversation, he exchanged opinions with his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosetto, regarding the current security situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
Minister Vučević told ministers Bobrovnicki and Crosseeto that Serbia was determined to preserve peace and stability in the region, underlining that the violence against Serbs, carried out by the provisional institutions of self-government in Priština, must be stopped as soon as possible.He reiterated the position of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, that the latter had expressed at the meeting with the ambassadors of the Quint countries, that the condition for maintaining peace in our southern province was the immediate withdrawal of fake mayors and the special forces of the so-called Kosovo Police from the municipalities in the north of Kosovo and Metohija.
The minister expressed his regret that KFOR soldiers had been injured.
Vučević shared with his Hungarian and Italian counterparts his deep concern over the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and expressed his hope that KFOR, as the sole legal and legitimate armed force, would be able, in accordance with Resolution 1244, to protect Serbs and other non-Albanians from repressive actions of Albin Kurti's administration.
Minister Salaj-Bobrovnicki said that Hungary was advocating an urgent easing of tensions in Kosovo and Metohija and stressed that all open issues must be resolved by diplomatic means. Hungary calls for a dialogue in order to achieve permanent peace and stability, he said.
The Italian Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, said that his country would continue to contribute to the relaxation of tensions in the region, which, according to him, is of strategic importance for the whole of Europe. The international community, Crosetto said, demands that the parties get involved with a view to quickly returning to normal life and in order for diplomacy and dialogue to play a dominant role again.
