Minister Vučević meets with Ambassador of Kingdom of Spain Molina
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Serbia, H.E. Raul Bartolomé Molina, today.
Minister Vučević thanked the ambassador for Spain’s principled position on the issue of not recognizing the so-called Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence, and for recently voting against Pristina’s request for membership in the Council of Europe. According to him, this is an indication of consistency in their respect for the sovereignty of other countries. He said that Serbia strongly supports the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Spain and emphasized true friendship between the two countries.
The minister of defence expressed his satisfaction with the level of defence cooperation achieved and highlighted joint participation in multinational operations, particularly in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
He said that Serbia was determined to continue military-to-military cooperation and to develop cooperation in the military industry domain. He said that it was important to continue the ongoing activities undertaken as part of military economic and military technical cooperation, such as determining future forms of cooperation between the two countries’ research and development institutions and defence industries.
According to Ambassador Molina, the Kingdom of Spain’s position regarding the non-recognition of the so-called Kosovo remains unchanged. Spain continues to strongly support Serbia’s request for the preservation of sovereignty and territorial integrity, he said.
He also said that there was room for improvement in defence cooperation, especially in the defence industry domain, and he emphasized Spain’s readiness to continue joint engagement in multinational operations and to intensify military-to-military cooperation. Ambassador Molina commended the professionalism of SAF members working as part of the Spanish Contingent in UNIFIL’s Sector East.
