Ceremonial Parade of Guard Orchestra for Serbian Armed Forces Day



On the occasion of 23rd April, Serbian Armed Forces Day, the Representative Orchestra of the Guard, with the sound of traditional Serbian melodies, paraded along Knez Mihailova Street in Belgrade.

During the parade, which started at the monument to Prince Mihailo, ended on Kalemegdan, and citizens and guests of Belgrade enjoyed a unique musical performance, which was particularly appealing because of a number of Serbian patriotic melodies written by Vojislav Bubiša Simić for the brass orchestra.

Following the “March on the Drina River”, the Guard orchestra under the baton of Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Đurov, performed famous compositions “Oj Srbijo, mila mati”, “Tamo daleko” and “Vostani Serbie”, after which marches ensued whose performance was welcomed by numerous audience with great enthusiasm.
 
The applauses accompanied each tact played, many recorded with their cameras the parade of the Guard orchestra, and the youngest were the ones who rejoiced the most at the sound of military music and the sight of blue Gurad uniforms.

The Serbian Armed Forces Day - 23rd April is celebrated in memory of the day when on Palm Sunday in 1815 a decision was made to start the Second Serbian Uprising to liberate Serbia from the Ottoman Empire, which subsequently enabled the creation of the modern Serbian state.
