Minister Vučević visits 98th Air Brigade
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević visited the 98th Air Brigade at the Morava Military Airfield today. Following the visit, the Minister of Defence said he was satisfied and proud, but also aware of all the challenges that should still be addressed. He added that we would continue to strengthen our air force and our armed forces in general.
Minister Vučević said that he had started his tour of the Raška district with a visit to the 98th Air Brigade, accompanied by Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Lieutenant General Duško Žarković.
- Through conversation with Colonel Mrdak, commander of the 98th Air Brigade, and other commanding officers of this famous unit, which has always been fully competent to complete any task and protected the homeland in the most difficult, decisive moments, I have gained an insight into the state of affairs in the 98th Air Brigade. First of all, we have discussed the problems, issues and challenges that the Serbian Armed Forces, this Brigade included, are facing, such as new personnel – pilots and aircraft mechanics, and the issues concerning the procurement of new equipment, new aircraft and infrastructure projects ahead of us – said Minister Vučević.
According to Minister Vučević, this was an opportunity for him to see that the Serbian Armed Forces, the 98th Air Brigade and the Air Force and Air Defence in general have made genuine progress in recent years and got something that Serbia did not have before.
- We took the right direction; modern weapons and military equipment have entered service, some of which you can see displayed here. I believe we will be able to bring some good news to the Serbian Armed Forces, and I would say, to the whole country, that we will get new equipment, new armament and that the entire Serbian Armed Forces, Air Force and Air Defence, including the 98th Air Brigade, will be stronger. And we will do our best to create even better conditions, to provide new, young pilots, new aircraft mechanics, new NCOs, new soldiers, to complete infrastructure projects so that the expensive, high-quality, deadly equipment could be kept in the best conditions that it deserves. I am satisfied and proud, but I am also aware of the challenges that we still have to address - concluded Minister Vučević.
Air Force and Air Defence Commander, Lieutenant General Duško Žarković, welcomed Minister Vučević at the Morava Military Airfield and commander of the 98th Air Brigade, Colonel Dragan Mrdak, briefed him on the state of affairs in the unit and planned activities for the period to come.
