Preparation of Infantry Unit for the Participation in Peacekeeping Operation

In the “South” base and training area “Borovac” near Bujanovac, there is an on-going intensive training of an infantry unit of the Serbian Armed Forces, which is preparing for the participation in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon.
This is the second phase of several-month long preparations that professional soldiers and commanding officers of this unit from the First Army Brigade undergo before their deployment to the area of operation in order to be fully trained to execute tasks within United Nations peacekeeping force.

Following individual tactical and firing training, carried out in the first segment of the training, the unit is now in the field practising tactics, techniques and procedures for the execution of tasks that they will face in Lebanon, such as patrolling, securing checkpoints, escorting convoys and control of mass gatherings.
To make the training as realistic as possible, the infantry unit works in conditions similar to those in the mission, and the tasks that they perform are fully adapted to the situations which members of the Serbian Armed Forces may encounter in the area of operation.

The engagement of the infantry unit of the Serbian Armed Forces in the mission in Lebanon was initiated in 2013, and, in this United Nations peacekeeping mission, there is also our force protection platoon, staff officers and a group of specialist in charge of providing support to the contingent
